The Glories of the Vanaprastha Ashram
in the Old Gurukula (on the way to the Mayapur Goshala)

In a life and its culture where sense gratification is the goal of life, mothers don't have a very respected and valued position. Indeed, it is a downtrodden and pittiful one: the poor thing - she has to be at home and serve! She can't go out and enjoy life in so many ways....
However, in a life and its culture where self-realization is the goal of life, it is very well understood that mothers are the most valued and honored members of the entire human society. Infact, we have seven mothers, out of which five are human:
- the physical mother
- the wife of a brahmana
- the wife of Guru (including Siksa Guru)
- the wife of a king
- the nurse
All these five human mothers play a very important role - they are the balancing and harmonizing force, the self-less care givers. Mother means: I am last - everybody else comes first. Mother means: no showing off, no sexual vibes. A mother is always master, but she is much more than that: a selfless and affectionate nurturer. Mother's love is the purest form of love we can find in this material world.
In these modern days of Kali Yuga this knowledge about the important role of mothers is almost lost and forgotten.
Therefore - let us join in celebrating......
