The Glories of the Vanaprastha Ashram
at the Old Gurukula in Mayapur (on the way to the Mayapur Goshala)
7th of March 2016 at 4:45 pm
In a culture where sense gratification is the goal of life, the elders don't have a very respected and valued position. Indeed, they are seen as a burden to society and are thus pushed aside into Retirement Centers and Nursing Homes.
However, in a culture where self-realization is the goal of life, they are respected and valued as most important members of society. They embody life experience, wisdom and self-realization and are cared for with affection and respect. And in return, they selflessly extend themselves to the younger generation to affectionately uplift and nourish them. This is the loving exchange between the ashrams within human society.
What are the underlying principles of the Vanaprastha ashram?
What is the valuable contribution this ashram is giving to society?
Why is it important for us today to cultivate the internal mood of detachment?
On this program we will find some answers to these questions and gain insights into the importance of establishing this ashram firmly in our ISKCON Society.
Let us receive encouragement to meet old age with joy and deep satisfaction! Let us endeavor to gain deeper insights into the challenges of meeting this last phase in life to ultimately approach death in great hope and joy.
Therefore - let us join in celebrating......
