I had what is called a "triple negative cancer tumor in stage one", which means that three hormone tests did not show any reactions, and the lymph nodes were not affected. Such triple-negative cells are known to be more aggressive than other cancer cells. Thus I was advised to do Chemotherapy - just like I had done ten years ago. I had not even contemplated the idea of rejecting this suggestion. I felt that it was Krsna advising me through the same agents as He had used in order to arrange the fact that the tumor was discovered in the first place. To reject this part of the treatment would almost feel to me like rejecting Krsna's helping hand, which He has so kindly extended towards me.
On my arrival in Cologne on the 19th of April the devotees happily received me, knowing that I had not come to offer a seminar, but to further recover from my surgery and to decide in which part of the world I would take further treatments.

I have received so many encouraging words from devotees all over the world - expressions of gratitude and appreciation, and good wishes and prayers. Such loving exchanges bring us closer and deepen our Vaisnava relationships, and give spiritual strength and encouragement to all involved. The prayers of devotees are very powerful and uplift everyone's consciousness, simply by turning to the Lord sincerely within our hearts.
Thanks to all of you for your affectionate care from far away... Cancer is becoming a more and more common disease, also amongst devotees. Infact, it is becoming one of the main causes leading to death. Dealing now with this diagnose for the second time inspires me to try and share some little insights, hoping that it might help others who will be facing a similar situation.
According to my karma I probably would be dead and gone by now, but somehow Krsna is always interfering.... He gave me a second chance ten years ago, and now a third one......
On my arrival in Delhi on the 22nd of March I traveled out to Vrindavan for a couple of days. I had to do some little errands, and it gave me a nice opportunity to spend a couple of days in Vrindavan. And we always meet some old devotee friends from various parts of the world, who we don't expect to meet.....! And it was once again recharging to spend time in Prabhupada's quarters chanting.
On the 24th I flew on to Chennai - it was my very first visit to this yatra. ISKCON has a big and beautiful temple in the green and peaceful outskirts of the city. HH Bhanu Maharaja has established this temple some years ago and takes very nicely care of the servants of Sri Sri Radha Krishna with Lalita and Vishaka, Sri Sri Gaur Nitai and Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra. In Chennai most devotees speak English, which makes preaching for us foreigners easier. I guess the devotees are used to hearing English classes since HH Bhanu Maharaja speaks only English. |
